Dollie Ruble Dunnam, brilliant mind, mother, and wife, passed away peacefully at home on October 20, 2025 at the age of 81.
Dollie excelled from an early age, graduating top of her class at Greeneville High School and East Tennessee State University. She went on to serve her country as an accountant with the United States Department of Energy in Oak Ridge, supporting critical aspects of the nation’s nuclear program. Her work was both a passion and a calling, and her sharp mind, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence earned her the respect of colleagues and friends.
Dollie loved her family, having shared 56 years with her husband, Troy, who preceded her in death earlier this year. Together they raised two daughters, the apples of their eyes and greatest joys. The home was filled with warmth, laughter, and love.
She is survived by her sister, Janice Riddle (Denver); brother, Bobby Ruble (Ella); daughters, Judy Dunnam Witt (Ward) and Mary Elizabeth Spica (Malcolm); grandson Paolo, and several nephews and nieces.
A receiving of friends will be held at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service on Sunday, October 26, from 4:00 – 5:00 pm, and Dollie will be laid to rest beside her husband at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Dollie’s honor to Greene LEAF, a non-profit used to purchase computers, books, and other supplies for students of Greene County Public Schools. Condolences may be shared through Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 865-983-1000, www.SmithFuneralandCremation.com
