Rev. Dewey L. Morton

June 12, 1934 — October 13, 2006

Rev. Dewey L. Morton of Friendsville went to be with Jesus on Friday, October 13, 2006. His was a life of service; first as a Navy veteran of the Korean War, then 36 years as a mailman in Friendsville and as pastor of Unitia Free Holiness Church for 26 years. He was preceded in death by parents Charles and Inez Morton, and brothers C.A and Edward Morton. Survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Barbara Spencer Morton, daughter and husband Karen and M.O. Dixon of Knoxville, sons and daughter-in-laws, Phillip and Angie Morton of Friendsville, Andrew and Analin Morton of California, Stephen and Lisa Morton of Chattanooga, and grandsons, Spencer and Andre Morton of California. He is also survived by sister and brother-in-law Tywanna and Bill Cliett of Alcoa and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Rev. Morton will be greatly missed by his church families at Unitia, Athens, and Roan Mountain Tennessee Holiness churches, as well as Cherryville, North Carolina. The family will receive friends at Smith Mortuary in Maryville on Monday, October 16, 2006 from 5:30 until 7:30 with funeral service following, Rev. Greg Goforth officiating, assisted by Reverends Bill Hicks, Don Julian, and Gene Honeycutt. Family and friends will assemble for Interment on Tuesday, October 17, 11:00 am at Hickory Valley Cemetery in Lenoir City. Donations may be made to National Diabetes Association, 900 E.
