Daniel Braxton Shelley, Jr. age 69, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2006 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was an Elder of Meadowbrook Christian Church serving in many positions. He was a dedicated employee of American Airlines retiring after 35 years of service. He was a Past Master of New Providence Lodge No. 128, Past High Priest of the Maryville Chapter 103, Past Master Pride & Council No. 183, member Cypress Commandry No. 23, and member of the Scottish Rite of Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Braxton, Sr. and Christine Ganis Shelley. Survived by loving wife and care giver for 46 years, Carolyn, son and daughter-in-law, Craig and DeeDee Shelley of White Pine, daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Waldon Shelley of Maryville and Denise and Rick Matthews of Union, South Carolina. Ten grandchildren; Danielle, Graham, Matthew, Tabitha, Sarah, Olivia, Brad, Michael, Beverly, and Trey; One great grandson, Andrew. One brother and sister-in-law, Carroll and Wanda Shelley of Texas; One sister, Patricia Poffenberger of Wisconsin; Also, sisters and brothers-in-law; Rhoda and Bill Reeme, Mary Mosley, Virginia Hughes, Billy and Reba Townsend, and Linda and Ernest Killen, all of the Tri-cities area; Several nieces and nephews, cousins, and many lifelong friends. A special thanks to all of the wonderful people with Hospice and special friends Ruth Dailey and Laura Fair. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Mr. Marion Dailey officiating, with Masonic Rites. Interment services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 in the Sherwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to your local Hospice organization. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 983-1000.
