Obituary

Charles S. Quagliana, Master Sergeant (Ret.), USAF, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026 with his family by his side. He was born December 10, 1932 in Lockport, NY, to Frank and Anna Quagliana. At age 17 he enlisted in the United States Air Force proudly and faithfully serving for nearly 22 years. He retired from the United States Air Force in September 1971 whereby he received an honorable discharge. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans supporting veterans in need. In 1951 while he was stationed at McGhee Tyson AFB, he met his future wife, Willadean King. They married in January 1952 and had three children. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Willadean King Quagliana; infant son Charles S. Quagliana, Jr.; daughter Patricia and son-in-law Rick Comisky; parents Frank and Anna Quagliana; mother and father-in-law Hazel and Willard King; sister and brother-in-law Nina and Sam Conjerti. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Jim and Janet Quagliana; grandson Richard and wife Susan Comisky; granddaughter Kim and husband Johnny Jones; great grandchildren Jordan Jones, Emily and Jacob Comisky. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces. He was a devoted member of Centenary Church where he was affectionately known as Papaw to everyone. He was known for his kindness, generosity and gentle spirit. He had a love for music and a passion for reading. Special thanks and recognition to all his devoted fellow church members, friends, and neighbors. Sincere appreciation to the therapists and caregivers at Life Care Center of Blount County, Brookdale Browns Creek Senior Living, and Amedisys hospice care for making his last days comfortable and peaceful. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on March 5, 2026 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM with Pastor Greg Howard officiating. Family and friends will assemble for graveside service with full military honors at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 6, 2026 at Grandview Cemetery, 2304 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville, TN 37803. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a veterans organization or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
