Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel, let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Charles.
Charles Leslie Pettyjohn was given life by his creator and was born on August 7th, 1947, the child of Francis and Geraldine Pettyjohn
In June 1955, He received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God.
in September 1981, He publicly confessed his faith and was confirmed.
He received the precious gift of the Lord's life-giving body and blood.
On February 4th, 1977, He received the gift of a beloved companion in his spouse, Candace Pettyjohn Nee Bynum
He was blessed with the gift of a son named John Francis Pettyjohn
God blessed Chuck's life with many special people as he served God in his vocations at home, church, work, and in the community. Precious son, John, Beloved granddaughters Chloe and Sarah Cate Pettyjohn, Dear sisters Cheri Phillips (Larry) and Jamie Fluke (Larry), special sister-in-law Deborah Pierson, Nieces, Nephews, and many many dear friends
Finally, on February 25th, 2026, God blessed Chuck with a holy death and took him home to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our brother Charles.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Chucks name to Praise Lutheran Church 315 Southdowne Drive Maryville, TN, 37801.
Funeral services will be held March 7th at Praise Lutheran Church (address above) with visitation starting at 10:30AM with a service to follow at 11:30AM. A Committal service and Military Honors will be taking place Monday March 9th at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on John Seveir at 10AM.
