Charles A. Hood

Charles A. Hood, Jr., age 76 of Seymour, TN went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 20, 2007. He was born on December 6, 1930 to Charlie and Eva Hood in Waleska, Georgia. He grew up in Tennga, Georgia and Conasauga, TN. C.A. attended Charleston High School in Charleston TN. As a 16 year old, he moved to Detroit, Michigan for work and later met and married Mary Jenkins. C.A. and Mary had four wonderful children together. He served his country in the United States Army from 1951 - 1953 and was a Veteran of the Korean War. After the war, he returned to Detroit and worked for Hudson's Department Store for 21 years. CA returned to Tennessee in 1979 to own and operate a market and gas station in the Wildwood community. In 1981, CA married Betty and they made their home in Seymour, TN. CA went to work for the Blount County Sheriff's Department in 1983. He served as a jailer until his retirement in 1993. During his retirement, CA stayed active by participating as a member of the Maryville Classic Cloggers exhibition team. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason. Preceded in death by: Parents, Charlie & Eva Hood; Brothers, Millard, James and Frank Hood; Sisters, Ada Moore and Imogene Frady. Survivors include: Wife, Betty Hood of Seymour; Sons and Daughters-in-law, Steve & Carol Hood of Sterling Heights, MI, Mike & Toni Hood of Lake Orion, MI, and Randy & Denise Hood of Oakland Township, MI; Daughter & Son-in-law, Shelley Taylor & Eric Hollaway of Watervliet, MI; Step Children & Spouses, Linda & Tony Price, Tom & Brenda Houk all of Maryville; Former wife and mother of his children, Mary Hood; Grandchildren, Carrie, Linsey, Nikki, Brad, Matthew, Brandon, Jackie, Travis, Haley, Adam, Ashley, Malina, and Caitlyn; Brothers-in-law, Carl Moore of Seymour and Bill Frady of Old Fort, TN. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM, Saturday, June 23, 2007 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Glenn Gamble officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 24, 2007 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery for the interment.
