Charles Wayne Garrett (78) peacefully went to be with the Lord surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home on December 27,2025. He will be forever loved and remembered. Charlie graduated from Everett High School and worked 40 years for the state of TN at McGhee Tyson Airbase. Charlie was a diehard Chevrolet lover; he enjoyed tinkering with his award winning red 1947 Studebaker truck and spending time with his family, especially his two grandchildren. Charlie left behind a legacy of love as he followed in the footsteps of his savior Jesus Christ. He was a man who loved big, laughed a lot and truly never met a stranger. He was known for stories and jokes; people were always entertained around Charlie. He was always willing to help anyone he knew. His presence filled any room; his kindness and sense of humor left a mark on everyone he met. Charlie will be missed more than words can express, but his spirit will live on in the stories, laughter and sweet memories shared by those who were fortunate to know him. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy Garrett; his daughters, Pam Clark and Kim Garrett and special friend Rick Croft. He was a proud pappy to his grandchildren, Kelcey Miller (Joe) and Cade Garrett Tippitt. He is also survived by his sister Freida Sheets and several nieces and nephews, and many long-time good ole buddies. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fate and Laura Garrett; his sisters Carla Garrett and Carolyn Garrett and son-in-law David Clark, all of whom welcomed him to his heavenly home with a rejoicing reunion. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Friday, January 2, 2026. Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM with Rev. David Cooper officiating. Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and interment at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Charlie’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Condolences may be shared at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 865-983-1000, www.SmithFuneralandCremation.com.
