Carolyn Ann (Patterson) Garner, 88, of Maryville, Tennessee went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 13, 2026. She was a devoted Christian who loved to share her faith and enjoyed her membership at Springview Baptist Church. Throughout her life she exemplified the love of Christ as a Sunday School teacher, a mission trip volunteer, and most recently as part of the Springview Women's Ministry.

After completing Business College, Carolyn spent most of her career as payroll clerk for Blount County and then Maryville City Schools. Friends and family enjoyed her sense of humor and her words of encouragement.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Raymond Garner, and her parents, Orbin and Charlotte Patterson. She is survived by her children, Kim Newman and Ken Garner; son-in-law, Bob Newman and daughter-in-law, Cherie Garner; grandchildren, Creighton Berry, Lindsey Newman, Taylor (Ryan) Copeland, and Chanie Garner; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, July 17, at 7:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to gather for the interment on Saturday, July 18, at 11:00 am at Centenary Cemetery in Maryville, TN.
