Bruce F. Russell, age 86, of Maryville, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2026. He was born August 25, 1939, in Maryville, Tennessee, a son of the late Nola and William Russell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his daughter, Stacy; his sister, Geraldine; and his brothers, Lamar, Marvin, Ron, and Rex. He is survived by his son, Mark Russell (Monica); and his grandchildren, Sydney Russell, Graham Russell (Brynlee), Aaron Russell and Will Russell. His family grew and he lovingly welcomed Christopher Stacey and Caroline Stacey into his life. He was immensely proud of his grandchildren and took great joy in hearing about their accomplishments and achievements. Their successes were a source of great happiness for him. At the heart of Bruce’s life was his family, whom he loved beyond all measure. He was devoted to his beloved wife, Barbara, with whom he shared 58 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished moments. He treasured the memory of his daughter, Stacy, whose life was tragically taken at the age of 17. Bruce’s business life was defined by a quiet integrity and steady devotion. As co-owner of Cate-Russell Insurance, he poured his heart into serving the Maryville community, treating every client with kindness and truth. Far beyond a livelihood, his life’s work was a humble reflection of his character and loyalty to his hometown. With profound pride, Bruce watched his son Mark step alongside him into the life’s work he had co-founded. There was no greater gift than watching Mark honor the foundation they had built, guiding it forward with devotion and pride. He warmly welcomed his daughter-in-law, Monica, into the family and treasured the special bond they shared. He was, in the truest sense of the word, a gentleman. Guided by an innate humility and a deeply thankful heart, he walked through life with a quiet grace that instantly put others at ease. He carried a classic, timeless elegance- rarely seen without his sharp Pendleton sweaters, signature wool caps and dress shoes that were polished to perfection. He dressed with a care that reflected the respect he held for every day and everyone he met. Yet for all his understated sophistication, his greatest refinement was his kindness. He noticed the small blessings, gave thanks freely, and left every room warmer than he found it. His legacy lives on through his enduring kindness, boundless generosity, and unwavering faith. As a devoted member of East Maryville Baptist Church, Bruce discovered a sanctuary of profound comfort and a true home within its community. To honor a life beautifully lived, the family gently requests that tokens of remembrance take the form of a contribution to the East Maryville Baptist Church Building Fund- a cause that remained deeply close to his heart. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 13, 2026 at East Maryville Baptist Church. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM with Rev. Greg Long and Rev. Keith Johnson officiating. Family and friends will assemble for interment at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 14, 2026 at Grandview Cemetery.
