Bobbie Burgess Cupp

Bobbie Burgess Cupp passed away peacefully at home at the age of 96 on February 27, 2024.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Iris Burgess; husband, Henry Cupp, Jr.; sister, Wilma Loftis; and brothers, Windom and Sheridan Burgess.

She is survived by her son, Charles Cupp (Rebecca) of Fullerton, CA; daughters, Nancy Whittemore of Franklin, TN and Susan Rudd (Kenny) of Louisville, TN; grandchildren:  Lexie Whittemore, Chesney Wheeler (Caleb), Owen Cupp (Anna), Jared Cupp (Charity), Myles Cupp (Lacey), and Austin Cupp; great grandchildren: Collins, Caylor, Henry, Layla, Ellie, Enoch, Elijah, Ethan, and Eliakim.

Bobbie grew up in Etowah, TN. She moved to Maryville at the age of 18 to enroll in Knoxville Business College. She met her husband, Henry, and they married in 1947. Following graduation she was employed at Murray Montgomery and Montgomery Blackwood Insurance Agencies.

She was a dedicated member of East Maryville Baptist Church and loved her church family. She had many lifelong and special friends with whom she enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, and going to garage sales. She was affectionately known to many as just “Granna”. She was an animal person and loved her dogs Chuckles, Lucas, and Bo. She was an avid sports fan and a huge fan of the Tennessee Vols.

A special thanks to her sitters Brenda, Erna, Heather, Kathy, Regina, Tammy, and Toni and to Blount Memorial Hospice for their loving care.

A private burial will take place at Grandview Cemetery.
