Billy Joe Beets, age 53, unexpectedly passed this life in his sleep on July 30, 2024 and woke up in the arms of the Lord. He was born August 13, 1970, in Knoxville, Tennessee to Billy G.“Pops” Beets & the late Joan H. “Nan” Beets. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. Harrison and Golda Hill &Everett and Lillian Beets. Billy was a local brick mason, having been in the trade for over 30 years in Blount County. Billy and his dad together ran B&B Masonry.
Billy loved hunting and spent many seasons at the family cabin in Hickman County, Tennessee that he built with his dad, along with several friends over 28 years ago.
In his early years during the spring and summer, you would find him on the diamond with his two oldest sons, Dylan & Dustin. Billy coached for many years at Eagleton Little League before branching out on the road with his travel teams. He also helped start and coach the Maryville Middle School baseball program. Billy touched many young men’s lives during this tenure and many relationships were formed and remain to this day. He was dedicated to not only the sport, but his players. He showed true sportsmanship both on and off the field.
Billy was also the owner of Xtreme Billiards in the early 2000s. He had a contagious smile and loved not only life, but people. He never met a stranger and would listen to everyone’s stories when they would just come to “hang out” not shoot pool. Many of those patrons were merely teenagers but continued their friendship with him into adulthood.
Later in life, Billy found peace working on his family farm, taking care of the animals and basically just taking a break from the fast lane and raising his two young sons, Tucker & Bryson, at a slower speed.
Billy loved his wife, family and most importantly his children. That is one thing that he cherished more than anything. He was loved by many and touched many people.
Billy is survived by his father, Billy G. Beets, his wife Krystal Mauldin, his sons Dylan (Baileigh) Beets, Dustin Beets, Tucker Beets & Bryson Beets, siblings Missie Loveday and Anthony Beets. He is also survived by Annette Foster, the mother of his grown children Dylan & Dustin, and several special nieces and nephews. Special life-long friend Bill Grayson Mitchell.
Billy loved life and he continued to give the gift of life with the donation of his tissue and organs. He was a simple man, a true HERO to not only his children, but to hundreds of lives that he saved or forever changed by this selfless act.
