IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alan Wayne
Davis
June 19, 1949 – January 30, 2026
Alan W. Davis, 76, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026. A native of East Tennessee, Alan’s career took him to many places, before settling back home in the Smoky Mountains.
Alan spent most of his career in the banking industry before making a heartfelt transition to becoming a kindergarten teacher. In this role he discovered his true calling - to shape young minds. To do this he often explored topics such as: the intricacies of sweet tea, the cultural significance of being from the volunteer state, and perhaps most importantly, instruction on the proper way to sing Rocky Top. In this way he brought knowledge, joy and a little bit of himself to the students he served from Texas to Florida.
In his free time he was often found cheering on the Tennessee Vols in various sporting events, especially football. He loved golf, spirited political discussions, and spending time with his family. His fun-loving spirit and joyful presence brightened every room he entered.
A key focus of Alan’s life involved giving back to his community. In this regard, Alan regularly worked with Special Growers in Maryville, while also serving as a local election worker—both roles that reflected his commitment to making his hometown a better place.
Alan was welcomed home by his parents, Wayne and Lois Davis, who preceded him in death. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Donna Davis; his children, Ami Davis and her partner Travis Heldibridle, and Jon Davis; his faithful companion, Buddy Holly; and a large, loving family of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends across the country and locally.
A homegoing celebration will be held in the summer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Special Growers in Maryville in Alan’s memory.
Condolences may be shared at Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, Maryville, 865-983-1000, www.SmithFuneralandCremation.com.
