Wilma Grace Woods

Wilma Grace Sims Woods age 96 of Greenback went to be with the Lord October 29, 2018 at Parkwest Hospital after a brief illness. She was a faithful member of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church and earlier of Greenback First Presbyterian Church. She was born at home in Sevier County, Sims Road, January 5, 1922. She was the youngest of the nine “Beautiful Sims Girls” born to John Marion and Huldia Thomas Sims. She was lovingly referred to as “Wilma Grace-the best one on the place”. She was present at the dedication of the Smoky Mountains National Park at Newfound Gap in 1940. She was employed at the S & W Cafeteria, Knoxville and J.C. Penney’s Maryville, prior to the birth of her three children. She traveled extensively in the U.S. and abroad after the death of her beloved husband, Richard C. Woods in 1978. She was a long-time active member of the Greenback aerobics group until moving to Morning Point Assisted Living in Lenoir City in 2015. She had a wonderful memory delighting to tell jokes even to within an hour of her death. She was predeceased by: sisters and brothers-in-law, Clessie Mae Seaton (Mayford), Linnie Leona French (Turner), Esta Lee Ogle (Harry), Ruby Golda Fox (Robert), Daisy Ruth Hill (Richard), Myrtle Pauline Davenport (Zan), Gladys Beatrice Butcher (Bill), Mildred Evelina Huff (Clint) and brother, Robert Sims. She is survived by: daughter & son-in-law, Gail Disney Skidmore (Larry); sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Woods (Mary Jo) and Mike Woods (Tracy); grandchildren and spouses: David Disney (Jessica), Kristi Disney Bruckner (Andy), Brian Woods (Danielle), Jason Woods and Brandon Woods; four great-grandchildren: Nick and Ben Disney, Samuel & Lucas Woods; sister-in-law, Fern Sims (Robert). The family extends their appreciation to Morning Point Assisted Living, Parkwest Coronary Care and Critical Care for their compassionate and competent care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, c/o Treasurer, 308 Henry Lane, Greenback, TN 37742. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon, on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral service will be at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Ron Sabo officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be at the Life Event Center following the burial.
