Shirley I. Caughron

June 23, 1945 — April 27, 2020

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share this sad news. Shirley Irwin Caughron (more affectionately known to our family & so many others as Mimi) passed away on April 27, 2020. Her faith and trust in Jesus’ plan of salvation allowed her comfort, especially after a recent diagnosis of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. That treatment was exhausting; however, complications from a stroke posed medical issues too great for her to overcome. Mimi was a compassionate soul who loved fiercely and absolutely adored her grandkids. She made sure to spend every possible minute she could with them and relished each memory made from the times they shared. She found such pride in watching her daughters live out the lifelong adventures of motherhood and was thrilled to be able to see each of them get to experience the role she loved so much - becoming a grandmother. Mimi was fortunate enough to have found her sweetheart and husband, Emerson five years ago. They were able to share road trips, beach trips, gardening, slots at Harrah’s in Murphy, NC, karaoke and hours of time with their dogs and pond. With their marriage Mimi added another daughter, son-in-law & two more grandchildren. In addition, she and Emerson added a bonus family with Juan and Mary Pastor and three bonus grands, Juanito, Mary Belinda, and Sandy. We are thankful for the years and love we have shared but are sad her life ended with so many memories left to be made. Due to circumstances preventing gatherings we will not be having open service. It would mean a lot to us if you would take a few minutes to share some of your favorite memories or pictures on Facebook or send them to Smith’s . Thank you for your continued prayers. Shirley is survived by her husband, Emerson Caughron; daughters & sons-in-law, Kenna & Jr Hess, Kelly & Harold Bryant, Dana & Josh Rose; grandchildren, Tyler Dockery, Libby Hess & Daniel Barrios, Brody Hess, Kenny Bryant, Timothy Bryant, Elliott Rose, and Emerson Joy Rose; great-grandchildren, Camden Cooper, Aubree Dockery, and Rylan Barrios Hess and sisters, Doris Hearon, Betty Livesay, Carolyn Payne, Pat McClure, Nancy Curtis, and Becky Sewell.
