Sally Breeden Cannon was greeted in heaven on Sunday, October 15, 2017 by her Lord and Savior, husband, and sons. Born October 30, 1917 in Riceville. Sally and Carl enjoyed many years of travel after they retired. Together they traveled throughout the lower 48 states and Canada. During their retirement years these lifelong Tennessee residents enjoyed the sunshine through the colder months at their Florida home on Lake Eustis. Today, they enjoy heaven together. Sally was a member of First Alcoa Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was an outstanding homemaker. Sally created a loving, Christian home for her family. Sally was a devoted wife and mother to six children. She dedicated her life to faith and family. Sally was an avid reader and was often seen with a book She was a comfort and positive example to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sally was 99 years old, and had lived in recent years with her daughter Doris and grandson Brian in Maryville. Sally created beautiful crocket hats the past few years and delighted in giving them to those she loved. The extra hats she created were donated to Cancer patients at UT Hospital. Sally was a breast cancer survivor of over 25 years. Sally was the daughter of the late Henderson and Laura Breeden of Riceville, TN. She was preceded in death by: Husband, L. Carl Cannon; Sons, W. Carl Cannon and Donald W. Cannon; Son-in-law, C. Daniel Poppelreiter Jr., Grandson, Greg Cannon and Brother, Charles Breeden. She is survived by: Sisters, Pauline B. White and Rose B. Frye of Riceville; Sons, Gary D. Cannon (Janice), Roger A. Cannon (Joni); Daughters, Doris Poppelreiter and Margaret Ogle (Wallace); Daughter-in-law, Marilyn T. Cannon; Grandchildren: W. Carl Cannon II, Sandra C. Price (Jeff), Debbie O. Ernsberger (Curtis), Eric Poppelreiter, Brian Poppelreiter, Sarah Cannon, Leah C. Allen (Charles); Seven Great-Grandchildren. A special thanks to Debbie Boruff for her friendship. In addition we want to thank the Hospice team for their compassion. Donations may be made in honor of Sally’s life and memory to the American Cancer Society, Jill Rollins, Memorial Chair, 2330 Chesterfield Drive, Maryville, TN 37803. Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 PM, Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral service will be at 7:30 PM with Rev. Charles Ballard officiating.
