S.L. Givens

S.L. “Pop” Givens of Maryville, TN, peacefully entered the glory of heaven on January 10, 2019. Born on June 14, 1918 (age 100), and raised in Uniontown, Alabama, S.L. was a World War II Navy Veteran and a 35 years employee of B.F. Goodrich in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was a master woodcraftsman, reciter of scripture and poetry. Preceded in death by: Wife of 73 years, Christine Gibson Givens; and Son, Henry. He is survived by: Sons, Roger (Beth) of Maryville, TN, Carl (Vivan) of Davidson, NC, and Dale (Charlene) of Tuscaloosa, AL; Daughter-in-law, Catherine of Gulf Breeze, FL. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. At S.L’s. request, a graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.
