Ruth Ann Waltz, age 81, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Ruth Ann was born on March 30, 1938 to Mr. and Mrs. Julian Holmes (deceased) in Elkhart, IN. She is survived by her husband Tom of 61 years, 3 children, Julia McFarlane (Anthony) of Alcoa, TN, Jeff Waltz (Patty) of Hawthorne, FL, and Susan Waltz Knopf (Tim) of Alcoa, TN. She also leaves 3 of the dearest grandchildren in the world, Elizabeth, Emilie and Matthew Hughes. A twin daughter Sarah, passed away in 1998. Ruth Ann enjoyed teaching Needlework in shops in Indiana, North Carolina and Alabama. Having had twin babies she initiated the Elkhart Area Mother of Twins Club, was a member of Beta Chi Sorority and Pythian Sisters of Elkhart and the Red Hat Society in TN. In the years after leaving Indiana, Tom’s job, in advertising moved the family around the South living in NC, SC, AL, FL, and Alcoa, TN. Ruth Ann’s hobbies were doing needlework projects, antiquing, playing Bridge with friends at the Senior Center, and playing Rummikub with family and friends. Funeral services will be held at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Tennessee Inc., 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. A receiving of friends will be held at The Life Event Center, 1404 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville, TN 37803 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Wednesday, November 6, 2019.
