Mayme Sue Hyatt

July 26, 1923 — March 13, 2020

Mayme Sue “Granny” Hyatt, age 96 of Maryville, went home to be with The Lord on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Morningview Assisted Living. Granny was the oldest living charter member of Edgewood Primitive Baptist Church, joining the church October 22, 1945, and worked as a seamstress for most of her life. She loved gardening, quilting, raising and taking care of her family, especially cooking for family and friends. Preceded in death by her son, Buddy Hyatt and her daughter, Joyce Hyatt Duckett; brothers and sisters, J.D. Hicks, R.L. Hicks, Vina Akins, Ossie Belcher, Ollie Maclemore, and Geraldine Myers. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Betty Hyatt; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Junior Gardner; grandchildren, Barbara Simpson, Teresa Hashe, Shari Thorne, Kenneth Wayne Hyatt, Brian Hyatt, Katrina Gardner, Dewayne Gardner, Angela Kay Hall, and Amanda Zempleni; 23 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Glenn Myers, and sisters-in-law, Unavee Hicks and Lois Hicks; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family also survive. A celebration of life will be held at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Crisp officiating with a time of receiving friends and family prior to the service from 12:30 pm until 2:30 pm. The interment will follow the service at 3:00 pm at Grandview Cemetery.
