Margie Mae Cox Price, age 90, was born in Washington County (Gray), Tennessee and lived there most of her life until her grandson was born in 1984. She then moved with her husband Joe to Maryville to spend the rest of her life to be close to her family. She was the “Nanny” for her grandchildren until they both reached driving age. Margie was a member of First Baptist Church of Maryville and previously a member of Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church in Gray, TN. She was a nurse and caretaker at heart, working at various nursing homes and at Indian Path Hospital in Kingsport, but her main occupation was a homemaker and wife and mother. She took great pride in helping others. For the past 4 years Margie had resided at Clover Hill Senior Living and then at Foothills Transitional where she passed away November 1 at 6 p.m. with her son Dwight by her side. Margie is survived by her son, Dwight Price of Alcoa, granddaughter Sara Price of Knoxville and grandson Seth Price of Knoxville. These 3 people were the loves of her life. Margie is also survived by many nieces and nephews across the country and special friends everywhere. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Howard Price and parents Lula Belle Slaughter Cox and William Jennings Bryan Cox. Receiving of friends will be held on Monday evening, November 4 from 5-7 p.m. at the Smith Trinity Chapel with a short service following at 7 p.m. There will be no burial or graveside service.
