Margaret Mary Ann Haresnape

March 30, 1937 — November 17, 2017

Margaret Mary Ann Haresnape (Peg) died peacefully at UT Medical Center on November 17, 2017 after a long fight with cancer. Peg was born in Boston, MA, to Arthur and Margaret Ransom. She attended Our Lady Help of Christians in Newton, MA and graduated from Worcester State Teachers College in 1958. Peg married William (Bill) Denson at West Point Cadet Chapel in 1958. They had three daughters. This union was later dissolved. Peg married Robert (Bob) Haresnape in 1971. Both marriages brought many moves and new experiences, first as an army wife, and then, with Bob in the Foreign Service, adventures living in France, Liberia, Bangladesh and Greece. Peg and Bob retired to Tellico Village which was their base for RV travels, cruises and family gatherings. Peg loved word games and puzzles, was an avid reader, a sports enthusiast, and a Red Sox fan. She enjoyed playing the piano, cross stitch, and quilting. She made quilts for all 8 grandchildren despite hands hampered with arthritis. Peg was active in a number of churches during her life, both stateside and abroad. She and Bob became members of the First United Methodist Church when they moved to Maryville in 2006. Peg was a sweet, loveable, and patient person with a ready smile and a caring soul. Friends and generations of family are left behind to mourn her loss and celebrate her life. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 27, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church of Maryville, Reverend Catherine Nance officiating. Light refreshments following service. In lieu of flowers please consider making a memorial donation to the 1st United Methodist Church of Maryville; 804 Montvale Station Rd, Maryville, TN 37803 or to your favorite charity.
