Mabel Ruth Garland

Mabel Ruth Garland, age 96, of Friendsville, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020 at Asbury Place of Maryville. She was the daughter of the late Loyd & Gertie Tipton. Mabel was first of all a devout Christian, loved going to church and singing, known by all who knew her as a great prayer warrior. She loved to share her faith. She was a wonderful mother who loved her family deeply and made sure they were well cared for. Mabel was a great cook, had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to fellowship with friends, a nice afternoon nap, and life in general. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: Husband of 62 years, Herman Garland; Son, David Wayne Garland; Daughters, Judy Lee Harmon and Karen Hope Crisp; Sisters, Ada Tipton and Nell Moore; Brother, William Tipton. Survivors include: Daughter, Pat Payne of Maryville, TN; Son, Wesley Garland of Maryville, TN; Son, Tim Garland of Vonore, TN; Daughter, Sandra Ritz of Murphy, NC; 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.
