Joyce Moore Stinnett

November 6, 1932 — November 20, 2018

Joyce (Joy) Moore Stinnett, 86, of Friendsville, went to sleep on Tuesday afternoon, November 20, 2018, with her three kids singing hymns to her, and woke up in the presence of her Lord and the singing of angels. She was a member of Maryville First Church of the Nazarene, having started attending with her family in 1945. Throughout the years she served in numerous leadership positions, but was best known for being a gifted Sunday School teacher. She was a life-long Republican and served several years as the chairperson of the Blount County Republican Women’s Club. She was extremely proud that she was on the campaign team that helped Howard Baker become the first Republican senator to be popularly elected in the State of Tennessee in 1966. Above all else, she was known for serving people. She was part of a group that helped start the Community Food Connection of Blount County. She was always willing to provide transportation, food, clothing, or anything else when she came in contact with someone who needed help. She lived out the definition that Christ gave of His sheep in Matthew 25, her entire life.
