Johnny Lynn Newcomb

May 7, 1972 — May 24, 2020

Johnny Lynn Newcomb, 48 of Rockford, departed this world on May 24, 2020 to meet his maker and savior. A devastating day for those of us left here to grieve his loss, but a day of healing and redemption for him. He was met with open arms by his parents Terrence Leon Newcomb and Betty Lou Newcomb Plymale and many other beloved family and friends who had gone on before him. Left to mourn this deep crushing loss, his beloved wife and sons Misty, Johnny II, and Jesse Newcomb. Johnny loved his family with his whole heart. Misty is his soulmate and spent the past 32 years loving and caring for him with her entire being. She will be lost without him. He was so proud of his sons and just recently shared with the world on social media just how proud he was. Thankfully they have no doubt that he loved them to the depths of his ability. He also leaves behind to grieve his loss, sister and brother in law Crystal & Joel Wheelon, niece Ellah Wheelon, nephew Evyn Wheelon, step-father Mark Plymale, and mother-in-law Wilma Sands, his dear friends he called brother, Mikie and Jason Lonker. Very specials aunts, cousins, extended family, and a host of dear friends all too numerous to name. Johnny was a free spirit with a huge heart, full of compassion who would give you the shirt off his back, regardless if he had another one himself. He was an amazing salesman who had huge success selling anything from cell phones to vacations. He was a natural comedian who could bring smiles and laughter even on the darkest days. He was a talented artist and loved to share his awesome voice through song. We all know many stories of him befriending and fighting for the underdog, and he had countless friends and fans. He had far too many amazing attributes and qualities to list .... to know him was to love him. He also had pain and demons he battled every day. He hid this from us all to an extent, and focused on trying to make us laugh and smile. His laughter and smile was contagious yet behind it he spent his life trying to heal his own pain. He was saved and knew the unconditional love of God, who has healed him now. His absence will forever be felt in the depths of our hearts, but we are thankful for God’s gracious promise that we will see him again one day. Until that day comes ... we love you Johnny to the depths of our soul and will never stop missing you. You will NEVER be forgotten. There will be an outdoor gathering to remember Johnny on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Smithview Pavilion, 601 Smithview Drive, Maryville, TN 37803.
