James "Jimmy" Bryant

October 20, 1961 — June 9, 2019

James “Jimmy” D. Bryant, aka Hillbilly, 57, of Maryville passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 at home surrounded by family. Jimmy served his country in the United States Navy as a Fireman Apprentice aboard U.S.S. Forrestal CV-59 and the U.S.S. Iwo Jima LDH-2. He was both an avid hunter and mechanic by trade who loved his family dearly. Preceded in death by: grandparents, Raymond & Elvie Bryant, Kenneth & Geraldine Mincy; special friend, Travis Grant. Jimmy is survived by: parents, J.D. Bryant and Elizabeth (Libby) Mincy Bryant; brother, Mark Bryant; sister, Rhonda Alley; brother-in-law, John Alley; very special niece, Misty Alley; nephew, Scott Alley, ever-beloved “Little Man,” along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins and very special friends, Jeremiah Grant, Rick Holt and David Bell. A special thank you to Aunt Lee, Cousin Dee, Uncle Ray, and Aunt Carolyn. We wouldn’t have made it without you all. A very special thank you to all the nurses and staff on 5E at Blount Memorial Hospital, all the doctors, nurses, and staff at BMH cancer center, Dr. Schrock at UT, Amedisys Hospice, and our special nurse Janice. We are so thankful to you for everything. Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and interment at 11:30 AM, Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at John Sevier.
