Carl Miller Jr.

Carl “Bud” Miller Jr. age 80, of Maryville crossed over to his heavenly home at Blount Memorial Hospital on Sunday morning September 23rd. Carl went to Alcoa High School and the University of Florida. He was a millwright at Alcoa Aluminum Company for 34 years and was also in the United States Naval Reserve. Carl was a native Alcoa resident and loved football, especially his “Alcoa Tornados”. In 1983 he was called by God into the ministry of Discipleship. He was a well-respected Bible scholar who loved to teach. He served 33 years at Madison Avenue Baptist Church and taught at many churches throughout the south. Carl served as a volunteer for the State of Tennessee at Brushy Mountain Prison and Morgan County Prison for 27 years. Carl (Bud) was preceded in death by: parents, Carl E. Miller Sr. and Bonnie Crumpton Miller; sister, Sylvia Miller; beloved son, Michael Ray Hunt. He was survived by: Loving wife of 55 years, Norma White Hunt Miller; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Christine Hunt, Carl III and Dana Miller, daughters and sons-in-law, Carla and Joe Hobbs, Tamra and David Carrigan; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Bill Carver; he adored his 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Madison Avenue Baptist Church. Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00 PM with Dr. Greg Heisler officiating. Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and inurnment at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Grandview Cemetery.
