Blondell Artemis Kittredge

April 29, 1928 — February 4, 2018

Blondell Artemis Williams Kittredge, age 89, of Ooltewah, TN formerly of Maryville, TN and Rockmart, GA passed away peacefully Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Life Care Center of Ooltewah. Her family was the most important part of her life. She was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband Thomas P. Kittredge; her parents, Zelmer and Dorothy Williams; daughter, Joan Elizabeth Kittredge Coffey; and granddaughter, Samantha Leanne Coffey, two sisters and three brothers. Survivors include son-in-law, William Coffey; daughter and son-in-law, Trina and Dr. Harold Weller of Pennington, New Jersey; son and daughter-in law, Steve and Medora Kittredge of Carrollton, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and D.J. Omarkhail of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Melanie and Chris Kittredge and Destiny Omarkhail; great grandson Judah, three sisters and one brother. Blondell was born on the family farm in Gleason, TN on April 29, 1928 the oldest of 10. She went to business school in Memphis. She was the1951 Cotton Queen. After her marriage, she taught herself to sew. She began a home sewing business which led to her owning a fabric store and beginning her love of quilting. She not only quilted for family and pleasure, she taught classes, and was commissioned by Dollywood to make 6 quilts for their newly renovated chapel. She loved people of all nationalities. Many of her classes were to the internationals who worked and lived in the Maryville, TN area. Family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Thursday, February 8, 2018 and Friday from12-2 PM at Smith Trinity Chapel with funeral service immediately after with Rev. Tony Collins and Dr. Bob Brown officiating . Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and interment at 3:00 PM at Grandview Cemetery.
