Billie Sue Henderson Hitson; Billie was born in Maryville on March 6, 1928 and lived in Blount County her entire life. She passed away on January 23, age 93, at Asbury Place after a battle with dementia. Billie was predeceased by her husband of 44 years John R. Hitson, parents, W.P. and Hazel Kerr Henderson and sisters, Merle McCracken and Marion Miller. Survivors include daughter Pat Reilly (Phil) of Maryville, son Bob Hitson (Kris) of Austin, Texas and sister, Barbara Clark; Four granddaughters: Lisa Altman, Angie Jones, Jenny King, and Courtney Hitson. There were six great-grandchildren. She was Aunt Billie to several nieces and nephews. A special friend was Ruth Harrison. Billie graduated from Everett High School in 1946. She was a homemaker, excellent cook and seamstress. Her yeast rolls and desserts were always favorites at family meals. She loved hiking in the Smokies and being with her family. Billie worked as a volunteer with the Blount Memorial Auxiliary 1991 – 1994. In 2002, she became a co-owner of Davis Lumber and Supply Company where she worked as bookkeeper and cashier in the store. She enjoyed the friendships of her customers and co-workers. The family is grateful to the staff at Morningview Village, Asbury Place and Blount Senior Care Partners for the compassionate care they gave Mother in her last years. There will not be a service at this time. The family will gather at a later date to celebrate her life and memory. Billie will be interred at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Monte Vista Baptist Church which was her spiritual home.
