April Higgs

April Phelps Higgs passed away at the age of 71 at her home in Maryville, Tennessee, on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. She was a loving wife, friend, and helpmate to her husband, Ted Higgs, with whom she had been married over fifty years. His careers as an Army officer and educator had taken them throughout the world and across the United States. A celebration of April’s life was held on Sunday, November 18, and a copy of that tribute is attached. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Frances Phelps, and she leave behind her husband; two sisters, Debbie Phelps Stietenroth and Suzanna Phelps-Fredette; and her brother-in-law, George F. Higgs. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation in April’s name to the USO. She will be sorely missed.
