Mildred Christine Burlingame

Mildred Christine Burlingame 95, of Maryville, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017. She was born January 7, 1922 in Laurel, Mississippi. Mildred was a member of Dotson Memorial Baptist Church and a former member of 1st Baptist Church of Lake Worth, FL. She spent most of her adult life living in Lake Worth, FL and spent summers in New Hampshire. She enjoyed doing puzzles, crafts and reading her Bible. Mildred loved spending time with family and friends and loved going out to lunch with them. She looked forward to her faithful visits from Jackie Phelps and Lena Edwards and enjoyed singing old gospel songs with them. She was always excited to hear “the girls” (whom she loved) Janice Best, Becky Sewell, Betty Jo Fowler and Sharon Snoderly were coming. One of her biggest joys was getting to spend time with her great-granddaughter, Sloan. Preceded in death by: Husband of 56 years, John Burlingame; Parents, Clelia and Harvey Peters; Brothers, Howard (Eugene) Peters, William Harvey (Tink) Peters; Sisters, Gladys Maddox, Tula (Inez) Sowden and LaMuril Jean (Mutt) Odom. Left to cherish her memory: Son & Daughter-in-law, Clarence & Sandy Burlingame of Blairsville, GA; Daughter & Son-in-law, Susan & Paul Hodges of Maryville; Grandsons, Nathan Hodges and fiancé Caitlin Wilusz of Orlando, FL, Kyle & Britney Hodges of Maryville; Great-Granddaughter, Sloan Victoria Hodges of Maryville; Sister, Louise Lorenz of Chesterton, Indiana; many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Pat Haworth for all the love and care she showed her and UT Home Health and Hospice. In hopes of helping other her body was donated to Restore Life USA for medical research. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 PM, Monday, May 22, 2017 at Smith Trinity Chapel.
