Gladys Pauline Nelson Bean

September 26, 1948 — April 27, 2017

Gladys Pauline Nelson Bean entered the presence of her savior on April 27, 2017, at the age of 68 and is now walking on streets of gold where the word “Alzheimer’s” will never be mentioned. Gladys was a long-time member of Broadway Baptist Church where her passion was loving on children in the pre-school ministry before suffering from the terrible disease that robbed her of her clear mind. Gladys will be greatly missed by her husband of forty-three years, Robert (Bob); Daughters, Beverly Hill and Cynthia (Brian) Brown; Grandchildren, Kesley Christopher, Charles Hill 3rd, Kaitlyn Hill, Jazlyn Brown, Jaxon Brown, and Jaylynn Brown; Sisters, Deanna Anderson and Joann Lawson; Brothers, Edward Nelson and Danny Nelson; Her beloved dogs, Foxy Lady and Roscoe; and many nieces and nephews. Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Pauline Nelson; Sisters, Vonette Nelson, Betty Nelson, and Linda Nelson; Brothers, Dwain Nelson and Jimmy Nelson; and her beloved dog for nearly seventeen years, Buttons. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017, in the Smith Trinity Chapel. Her funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Tony Collins and Rev. David Webster officiating. Family and friends will assemble for Interment at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made either to one of several Alzheimer’s organizations or to the Broadway Baptist Church Building Program, 2329 East Broadway Avenue, Maryville, Tennessee 37804. Bobby, Beverly, and Cindy want to extend special thanks to the Blount Memorial Hospital Emergency Department and to Dr. Yount and the many nurses and technicians on floor 5E of Blount Memorial Hospital who lovingly provided great care for Gladys for the last four days of her life before she peacefully departed to her eternal heavenly home where her body will never again know arthritis and her mind will never again experience Alzheimer’s disease.
