Doyle Wade Whitehead, born October 4, 1931, passed from death to life on August 5, 2017 leaving his wife of 67 years, Mable Whitehead; two children, Doyle Lee Whitehead (Ginger) and Judy Whitehead Parris (Loren); four granddaughters, Lori Brooks, Nikki McKinnis, Jill Callaway and Joni Davis; five great-granddaughters, Hailey Brooks, Clara McKinnis, Mallory, Audrey and Caitlee Taylor; five great-grandsons, Colton, Ian, Logan and Collin Callaway and Haden McKinnis; one sister-in-law, Betty Compton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by one son, Wiley Houston Whitehead; parents, William H. and Blanche McClanahan Whitehead; brothers, Harold and Earl Whitehead; six sisters Gladys Davis, Louise Franklin, Elvira Wilson, Selva Dunlap, Curtisteen Compton and Earnesteen Whitehead. He retired from Aluminum Company of America on January 1, 1989 and was a 25-Year Club member, a Korean War veteran where he received the Purple Heart and Sharpshooter award. He loved to fish and travel. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in Smith’s Trinity Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM officiated by Rev. Timothy Martin. Music will be provided by Denise Compton and poem, “The Final Inspection” read by Loren Parris.
