Charles Timothy Lombardo

June 25, 1953 — April 2, 2018

Charles Timothy “Tim” Lombardo—age 64 of Maryville, born in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi on June 25, 1953, departed for his heavenly home on Monday, April 2, 2018. After moving to Tennessee with his family in 1963, he attended Walland High School (’72), where he met the love of his life, Dixie Matlock. They began their life together when they were married on June 21, 1975. Throughout his life, Tim was a life-long learner who loved science, space, and technology, but first and foremost he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a true provider who was always there for his family. He was most happy and most proud when making jokes or playing with his grandchildren, who will all miss their Poppy. Apart from the family, he was proud of his work as an industrial machinery mechanic at Denso, where he was known as “Turtle” to his fellow associates for almost 30 years (1990-2018). He believed not only in hard work, but in working cheerfully with the patience of Job. Tim is preceded in death by his father and mother, Samuel Paul and Edna Ann Lombardo; brothers Paul Thomas Lombardo and John Michael Lombardo; and sister, Mary Frances Lombardo. He leaves behind his wife, Dixie Lombardo; sons Wesley Andrew Lombardo (Jodie) and Joseph Thomas Lombardo (Cathryn Flynn); grandchildren Bailey Madison Lombardo, William Myers Lombardo, Justice Mae Lombardo, and Christopher Wayde Flynn; sisters, Gloria Aslinger (Jim), Jackie Foster (Tom), Margie Nichols (Randy), Cathy Potter (Bob); brothers-in-law Dan Matlock (Ruth)and Don Matlock (Jean); and nieces and nephews, John, Rex, and Mike Matlock; Valerie Nuchols, Vanessa Abbott, Wesley Matlock, Michelle Lombardo, Jason and Michael Hardin, Joseph Potter, Wendy Foster. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4 at Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father William McNeeley officiating. The interment will follow the funeral mass at Chilhowee View Cemetery at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
