Betty Jean Samples

Betty Jean (Hitson, Ledbetter, Younce) Samples, born February 10, 1936, went to be with the Lord on November 9, 2017 at the age of 81. Betty was a faithful member of Unity Baptist Church for more than 50 years where she loved to teach the children and was the Sunday School secretary. She was also co-owner of Ledbetter’s TV. She was preceded in death by her parents, B.C. and Modean Hitson; husbands, Edward Ledbetter, Jack Younce, and S. L. Samples; siblings, W. R. Hitson and Reva Burns. Betty will forever be remembered as a Christ-loving mother by her adoring children; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Mechelle Ledbetter, Dwayne and Jean Ledbetter, Jeff and Kim Ledbetter; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Steve Sands; grandchildren, Brooke and Brian Nix, Annie and Billy Baker, Joey and Sarah Ledbetter, Jason and Heather Ledbetter, Andy Ledbetter, Leslie and Curt Tate, Jenni and Craig Strange, Caleb Hines, Colby Sands, Jared Sands, Abby Sands; several great-grandchildren; beloved sisters, Ella Smithey and Ruth Campbell; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Susan Hitson; several special nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, November 12, 2017 with a funeral service at 7:00 PM officiated by Pastor Barry Crowson. Family and friends will gather at Tuckaleechee United Methodist Cemetery in Townsend, TN at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 13, 2017 for interment service.
