Betty Lou Plymale

February 1, 1951 — April 18, 2018

February 1, 1951 - April 18, 2018 Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend Betty Lou Hatcher Newcomb Plymale departed this life after a difficult, but bravely fought battle with cancer. Surrounded by family, she left her pain and suffering behind for the everlasting joy of her Heavenly home. Known for her compassion, generosity and genuine love for others, she had a special place in her heart for those less fortunate and would sacrifice her own well-being to help them or anyone. With a contagious laugh, smile, and sense of humor, she never met a stranger, and warmed the hearts of all who had the blessing of meeting her. She had a passion for forensics, all things medical, and caring for those who were grieving. With her life skills, critical thinking, and natural ability in diagnostics she saved lives with her advice and helped so many. Throughout her life, she faced many heartaches and adversity with grace, strength, and courage like no other. It is only with her inspiration, encouragement, and example that we will learn to endure the remainder of our earthly days without her. And we rejoice in God’s promise that we will be reunited again one day. There are no words to express the heartache and grief we are left to endure forever, but we are comforted to know she is healed and with her Savior and family who were waiting there for her. Preceded in death by her children’s father, Terry Newcomb, father, Joe Hatcher, mother, Irene “Dolly” Hatcher and sister, Lorna Norwood. Left to mourn her absence forever, husband Mark W. Plymale, children Crystal Newcomb Wheelon (Joel) and Johnny Lynn Newcomb (Misty), grandchildren Johnny II and Jesse Newcomb, Ellah and Evyn Wheelon, stepdaughter Stephanie Adams, step grandson David Adams, siblings JoAnn (Robbie) Sims, Judy (Walter) Snow, Tammie Cole, Benny (Judy) Hatcher. Many beloved nieces, nephews, and too many friends to count. There is coming a day when our family will all be together and we cling to our faith in knowing there is eternal life in Jesus Christ. Family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 PM, Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Smithview Pavilion, 601 Smithview Drive, Maryville, TN 37803. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 4:00 PM.
