Amanda Kathleen Laws

March 8, 1982 — July 3, 2017

Amanda Kathleen Laws (Carey) 35, of Maryville, TN and formerly of Salisbury, MD and Montello, WI joined her Savior on Monday, July 3, 2017 at her home. Amanda was born March 8, 1982 at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, WI to Betsy Carey. She spent her early years and started school in Columbia County, WI. She attended Marcellon Elementary and Montello Elementary and Junior High School. She finished her schooling at and graduated Class of 2001 from James M. Bennett High School in Salisbury, MD. After graduation, Amanda joined the United States Air Force and proudly served her country for eight years. Amanda’s first child, Jacob Ryan Laws was born on April 5, 2007 in Misawa, Japan where she and her husband were stationed. Amanda chose to leave the Air Force when they decided to have their second child, Anabel Olivia Laws who was born on February 28, 2011. When their time in Japan was over they moved to Maryville, TN where she happily settled in and joined the Foothills Church. In the church she found great joy, many good friends, and a truly amazing support system. Amanda’s faith was very important to her and she found a wonderful community in Foothills Church where she was a dedicated member. Amanda’s family was complete when her third child Gabriel Elijah Laws was born on May 27, 2014 in Maryville. Amanda’s greatest joys were her children and she dedicated her life to making a home for them, homeschooling them, and raising them in the faith. They were her true loves and everything she did was centered around them. She took great pride in them, in their education, and their love for learning. She enjoyed taking them to Cades Cove, which was a special place for her, taking them on outings in their community and to the Church. Amanda was also a devoted daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece and cousin. She was always concerned with the well being of others, always the first to offer to help if there was a need, and always quick to tell you how wonderful she thought you were. Her bubbly personality, beautiful smile and infectious laughter will be remembered and missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Sydney Carey, her paternal grandmother Natalie Curtis and paternal grandfather Vincent Curtis, her paternal step-grandmother Sarah Curtis, her Aunt Susanne Carey-Raimer, and Uncle Wesley Carey.
